OOTD: Tale of the Blue Jumper

Once Upon A Time…

A blue, corduroy, vintage jumper has been hanging in my closet for over a year. I fell in love with its midnight color and daytime softness when I saw it hanging in a thrift store. I just had to have it. So, I paid the $5.99 and vowed to take this beautiful find out on the town as much as possible. Needless to say, I am very ashamed that I have not even taken this bad boy off of the hanger in months. Why? Well, I wish I could say that the answer is because it became lost in the shuffle of moving my clothes from home to school or that I simply just forgot that I had it. Although this usually happens with clothing articles in my closet, also known as THE LAND OF THE LOST, this was not case.

With this particular dress it came down to one simple factor: How the *&%$ do I wear this? I am also ashamed to bring this deep rooted thought into public domain, because I tend to pride myself on being creative with outfits and not caring what others think about what I am wearing. This pretty, dark blue jumper proved to be too warm and yet too revealing to wear in the summertime. I struggled for weeks racking my brain trying to successfully put together the perfect ensemble that this incredible vintage find really deserved. Until, it hit me. For goodness sake, I had to stop trying so hard! This is fashion! Anyone that takes their outfit this seriously needs to rethink some things. So, I woke up the next morning, found the same black turtleneck I have been wearing nonstop, (don’t worry its been washed) and wore what came naturally to me. The story of the blue corduroy jumper will live on in my head as a daily reminder to not get lost in the small details and focus on what is right in front of me (applying to the clothing in my closet and okay, I suppose life too).
